A Message from the Instructor

Welcome to the Universal Handwriting Foundations Training course! My name is Thomas Wasylyk and I’ll be your instructor.

Handwriting is a skill that students use every day in every subject. Like any other skill, students must be taught how to write by hand. A planned, sequential approach ensures that students receive developmentally appropriate instruction that guides them from building foundational skills to fluent, functional handwriting.

This course is a comprehensive overview of manuscript handwriting instruction. It encompasses strategies for effective handwriting instruction, as well as relevant background information such as the stages of handwriting development and handwriting readiness skills.

I have dedicated my career to developing effective handwriting instruction strategies and materials for early childhood through middle school. I hope you enjoy the course and that it makes handwriting instruction both simple and effective for you and your students!
